Welcome to IOI 2024 Egypt

The Organizing Committee of the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2024 Egypt) has the honor to welcome you, which will be held on the main campus of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria from September 1-8, 2024.

Visa

The Government of Egypt has created a website for the issuance of “e-visas”. There are other websites purporting to offer electronic visas, some of which reportedly charge double the official price, but this is the only official Government of Egypt portal for this service. The following countries are eligible to apply through this means in advance of their travel:

Airports

The IOI 2024 organizing committee recommends that all the participants arrive to Borg El Arab International Airport. Borg El Arab International Airport (IATA: HBE, ICAO: HEBA) is the international airport of Alexandria. It is located about 40 km (25 mi) southwest of Alexandria. The airport is almost one hour away from the AASTMT Campus (IOI 2024 Venue).

  • Afriqiyah Airways (Libya)

  • Air Arabia (United Arab Emirates)

  • Air Arabia Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates)

  • Air Arabia Egypt (Egypt)

  • Air Cairo (Egypt)

  • AlMasria Universal Airlines (Egypt)

  • EgyptAir (Egypt)

  • Flydubai (United Arab Emirates)

  • Jazeera Airways (Kuwait)

  • Kuwait Airways (Kuwait)

  • Libyan Airlines (Libya)

  • Nesma Airlines (Egypt)

  • Qatar Airways (Qatar)

  • Saudia (Saudi Arabia)

  • Skypower Express Airways (Egypt)

  • Turkish Airlines (Turkey)

  • Yunnan Ying'An Airlines (China)

This list may not be exhaustive, as airlines may add or remove routes based on demand and other factors. It's always a good idea to check with the airline directly or use a flight search engine to confirm current routes and schedules.

However, more flights could be found to Cairo (CAI) or Sphinx (SPX) international airports. It is almost 4 to 5 hours away from the IOI venue by car. So we do recommend arriving at Borg El Arab (HBE) airport.

Accommodation

All participants will be accommodated in the AASTMT venue. 

​

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), strives to create a welcoming and comfortable home for students at the Residential Life. Moreover AASTMT have policies and procedures that students required to follow to respect the community that are living in for their safety and to create a great living environment. The AASTMT Campus in Alexandria have offers five student hotels that offers a residential for all students. There is another separate hotel for female students in the campus. The entire hotels are built according to the highest standards and are maintained by professional staff.
